Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
Global Village Learning (GVL) is deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children, young people, and their families. As a child-safe organization, we strive to ensure that every student feels safe, respected, and heard. Our child-safe policies, strategies, and practices are designed to meet the diverse needs of all learners, fostering an environment where their participation is valued and their voices are integral to decisions affecting their lives.
At GVL, we have zero tolerance for child abuse and take proactive steps to identify and manage any risks of harm, both within and outside our school environment. We prioritize building positive relationships based on trust and respect, not only between students and adults but also among peers. In situations where child safety concerns arise, we act promptly and thoroughly to address them, ensuring a secure environment for all learners.
We pay particular attention to the safety needs of Aboriginal students, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, international students, students with disabilities, LGBTIQ+ students, and others who may be at risk. Any inappropriate or harmful behavior, including racism or homophobia, is not tolerated at our school, and such instances are met with appropriate actions to uphold our commitment to safety and inclusion.
Child safety is a shared responsibility at GVL, and every member of our community has a crucial role in promoting wellbeing and safety. If there are concerns about a child’s safety, we encourage all to promptly bring these to the attention of our Executive Director, Peter Hutton, or our Child Safety Champion, Maha Asif. We stand united in our mission to provide a safe, empowering, and supportive environment for every learner, living up to our vision of empowering learners to build communities that positively impact the world.
