At New Gisborne, learning doesn’t feel like school—it feels like life unfolding.
Nestled beneath the Macedon Ranges, our New Gisborne Campus is the heart of Global Village Learning’s vision—offering a full F–12 experience grounded in learner-led, real-world learning. From our youngest learners just beginning their journey, to older teens designing businesses and shaping social impact, this campus is alive with curiosity, purpose, and possibility.
This is where learning becomes life.
Each learner builds their journey at their own pace, supported by Guides, mentors, and their community. Whether it’s writing stories under a tree, prototyping a social enterprise, or pitching an idea to a local council—what happens here is real, relevant, and driven by the learner.
Learning Without Limits
From community gardening to coding apps, barista training to public speaking, learners at New Gisborne graduate ready to contribute—with the confidence, capability, and character to make a difference. Whether it’s university, a startup, a trade, or something entirely new, they’ll get there on a path that’s truly theirs.
- Full Developmental Learning Hub Continuum (F–12): All four of GVL’s hubs—from Foundations & Play to Pathways & Futures—are thriving on site. Learners can begin with us at age 4 and grow right through to VCE Vocational Major or Victorian Pathways Certificate.
- Flexible, Learner-Led Days: No fixed timetable. No uniforms. No bells. Instead, learners co-create their days in rhythm with their goals, community, and interests—with support from Guides and expert mentors.
- Onsite and Offsite Learning: Learning unfolds across our 10-acre property, in the broader community, and through Masterclasses, clubs, EdVenture Weeks, and internships.
- Enterprise and Impact Opportunities: Cycle 4 learners pitch ideas, launch ventures, lead social action, and prepare for life beyond GVL—all without needing an ATAR.
No bells. No uniforms. No year levels. Just learning that matters.
Here, young people move through Developmental Learning Hubs rather than traditional year levels. These hubs are designed around stages of human development, not arbitrary age groupings. Each learner’s journey is shaped by their readiness, interests, and growth—not by a fixed curriculum or the ticking of a school year clock.
- In Foundations & Play (Ages 4–8), learners build essential skills through hands-on exploration, guided by curiosity, movement, and imagination. This is a joyful, play-based beginning grounded in Modern Montessori principles.
- Exploration & Discovery (Ages 7–12) is where learners dive deeper into inquiry, asking big questions and collaborating with peers as they strengthen communication, critical thinking, and self-direction.
- Entrepreneurship & Social Impact (Ages 11–16) empowers learners to design real projects, lead initiatives, and explore the impact they can have on their community and the wider world.
- Finally, Pathways & Futures (Ages 15–20) supports young people as they chart their own course into adulthood—whether through vocational training, university pathways, enterprise, or a combination of all three.

Every Five Weeks: A Checkpoint That Matters
Every five weeks, each learner participates in a Learning Huddle—a purposeful, three-way conversation with their Guide and family. Together, they reflect on progress, review curated portfolios, and set new personal, academic, and project-based goals.
It’s our way of ensuring education stays personalised, transparent, and future-focused, while also providing structure, accountability, and celebration.
A Campus Community That Grows (and Plays) Together
At New Gisborne, community is a lived experience, not a buzzword. Families, learners, and Guides co-create a vibrant calendar of events and activities that bring people together in meaningful, joyful ways. From Winter Solstice celebrations with fire pits and storytelling, to our whole-community Christmas gathering, and even the occasional Nerf war that spans across Learning Hubs, there’s a place for everyone—parents, siblings, neighbours, and friends. Whether we’re sharing a meal, building a garden, running a market, or just having a laugh, we are constantly weaving relationships that strengthen belonging and build lasting memories.
A Day in the Life
At New Gisborne, no two days look the same—but each day is grounded in rhythm, purpose, and connection:
- Morning Mind Mosaic – Learners focus on foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, movement, and self-awareness, often in multi-age groups.
- FreeScape – Learners explore our 10-acre campus with self-directed play, collaborative projects, or quiet time for creativity.
- Afternoon EDventure Labs – Hands-on, interdisciplinary project work built around solving real problems and building community impact.
- Masterclasses & Offsite Learning – Expert-led sessions and community partnerships bring learning to life beyond the campus walls.
- Community Nourish & Clubs – Shared meals, student-led clubs, and leadership time foster a strong culture of belonging and contribution.
